Relax in the rolling Leicestershire Countryside

The Hideaway is an attractive self-catering studio, nestled in the heart of the glorious countryside on the Leicestershire/Rutland border. It offers miles of off-road hacking across fields and bridleways, as well as access to a range of cross-country fences.

The Hideaway lies a mile off the beaten track, giving holiday makers the chance to relax and unwind – while their horse grazes just feet away. The first-floor, studio apartment is stylishly furnished with double bed and sofa bed, self-contained, with a lounge area, separate kitchen and bathroom and views over the paddock.

Bringing your horse/ponies, we also welcome dogs. Then they will be happy and relaxed as they’ll be able to see other horses grazing nearby. There’s plenty of room to park a horsebox or trailer and a gravelled drive takes you from the main road to the apartment.

The Hideaway is set in a former barn, which was lovingly converted by Jane and Michael Wadd several years ago. The horse-loving couple have five children, six horses and ponies, three dogs and a number of sheep. Jane, who’s a keen horsewoman, is happy to show holidaymakers around some of her favourite rides or point them in the direction of the best off-road hacks.

The Hideaway may offer the rural idyll, but it’s just a short drive from the A47, and a stone’s throw from the quaint market towns of Uppingham (6 miles away) and Oakham (9 miles away), as well as Rutland Water (9 miles away) with its water sports, cycle routes and bridleways. The local village of Hallaton is home to several pubs, and if you wish to enjoy a day’s shopping, the lively city of Leicester is just half an hour’s drive away.

Enjoy a day’s hunting? The Hideaway is in the heart of hunting country, close to the historic Rutland and Leicestershire hunts of the Cottesmore, Quorn, Pytchley, Woodland Pytchley and Fernie.

Want to embrace the holistic approach? The Hideaway is also home to the River-Healing Clinic, run by Michael Wadd. A well-renowned healer, Michael offers energy healing, spiritual healing, medical Qi Gung and more for people and animals.
