Delamere Forest Cheshire

Day One

Arrive and settle yourself and your horse into your accommodation. We have two accommodation options - both on site to the stables and in the heart of the forest - log cabins - one 4 person and one 6 person.

The 4 person log cabin comprises of a double and a twin room, bathroom and kitchen/lounge/diner. The larger cabin sleeps 6 and has one double room, two twin rooms, bathroom and kitchen/lounge/diner.

The cabins have access to an all weather arena with show jumps, and grazing paddocks.

This evening you may like to dine out. The Carriers Inn is the closest pub (you can walk) and is highly recommended. The Fortune Palace is a nearby Chinese restaurant. The village of Kelsall is just a 10 minute drive away with two very good gastro pubs, Chester is 25 minutes by car, or train from Delamere station which is a very short walk from your accommodation.

Day Two

Today you have a full day of exploring the beautiful Cheshire countryside. You have direct access into Delamere forest (Cheshire’s largest woodland), the Delamere Loop and onto Eddisbury Hill. You might like to pre-book Kelsall Hill Equestrian which is just 5 minutes away. Their facilities include a 4.5 furlong all weather gallop, 7 mile farm ride, an 80m x 46m arena for showjumping and an 30m x 46m arena for flatwork for hire and BE cross country course available for schooling.

This evening choose again from a range of dining experiences. The pretty local village of Tarporley is a 10 minute drive away. The Swan pub has an award winning Chef, The Coast is one of Tarporley's newest bar/restaurants and is very popular and the Fox and Barrel is one of the best gastro pubs in the area, renowned for exquisite food (pre-booking is recommended).

Day Three

Breakfast in your accommodation, then the choice is yours. Either enjoy another ride out in the forest, the routes are endless, or arrange a show jumping lesson / use of the facilties at Kelsall Hill!

For non-riders and for those wanting to do some sight-seeing, the historic city of Chester is only a 25 minute drive/train ride; its unique black and white Tudor-style shopping rows draw visitors from around the globe. Beeston and Peckforton Castle are 20 minutes away by car. We also recommend Chester Zoo, Go Ape, Cheshire Oaks for shopping, Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre and Cheshire Ice Cream farm (great for the family).
