Horse Riding in the Peak District

At Hoe Grange you will stay in a lovely 4 or 6 person cabin located on a traditional beef and sheep farm on the edge of the Peak District National Park. You can choose stabling and or grazing for your horse. And if you're looking to bring your canine companions along as well then three of the cabins are dog friendly! You and your horse have access to over 250 acres of privately owned farmland, (depending on weather conditions and cropping). Your hosts David and Felicity will provide you with OS maps and suggested the most appropriate routes so you never have to hack the same route twice.

The lodges at Hoe Grange are located right on The Pennine Bridleway. Here you have the opportunity to ride at your own pace taking in the stunning scenery of the Peak District at the same time. The variety of landscape is vast; from deep-cut limestone dales, such as Dovedale, Beresford Dale and Lathkill Dale, with their fast flowing rivers and gorges, to the bleak and beautiful peat-covered moorlands.

Hacks include the popular 3hr pub ride to Parwich taking you along the local bridleways, crossing open fields and quiet country lanes. For those who prefer full day treks a map can be provided for a 15-16 mile trail. There are also 4 to 5, 2-3hr local hacks which you can enjoy as and when you wish. The options are endless!

Non rider partners can bring their own or borrow a mountain bike on site as the bridleways are also perfect for cycling along. There’s an array of gastro pubs in the area where you can enjoy an evening meal. Alternatively make use of the kitchen facilities in your cabin and use the slow cooker; food hampers can be purchased onsite. Advance bookings for this service are required. If you don't want to cook for yourselves a full English breakfast can be prepared for you by your hosts using home produced sausage, bacon and fresh free range eggs.

You may even like to spend an evening under the tranquil starry skies in a traditional log-fired Swedish hot tub. Get closer to nature as you unwind in the steamy water in the peace and quiet of the beautiful Derbyshire countryside, or simply relax in the log-fired barrel sauna. Treat yourself to these relaxing extras from just £50.

If you are coming with small children there is a play area just a few yards from the cabins which you have full use of. As well as riding the Peak District National Park is an ideal base for outdoor activities, including walking and cycle. Chatsworth House and the idyllic village of Bakewell are both less than 10 miles away, with Alton Towers theme park being less than 20 miles away by car.
