Own Horse Training Shropshire

Day One

Arrive and settle into your beautiful B&B accommodation just 4 miles from the market town of Shrewsbury. This privately owned period country house is steeped in history. There are three rooms available, each room has TV, DVD player, radio and internet connection. All the bedrooms are beautifully furnished with antiques and all mod cons. Breakfast (and dinner upon request) is served in the oak panelled dining room and there is also a separate sitting room for guests. Well behaved dogs can also be accommodated upon request.

Your horse will stay in the onsite livery yard. The yard is set in approximately 1000 acres of private land, you need never ride on a public road again! The yard has all the equine facilities you would expect from a top establishment including an international size all weather arena, 18 internal loose boxes and a heated tack room.

On a DIY livery basis everybody has their own stable, individual steel tack locker and all year grazing as well as hard standing trailer and lorry parking.

This afternoon why not head out on a short hack? Your host will discuss all the local routes with you, provide maps where required and picnic lunches upon request. You will ride along the River Severn, through private fields and bridleways with beautiful views extending out across to the Shropshire Hills and Welsh borders.

This evening the choice is yours. You may like to try one of the local pubs, you can head into the centre of Shrewsbury where you'll find an array of restaurants and bars or you can arrange to dine in the B&B where all ingredients are locally sourced or freshly picked from the organic walled garden.

Day Two

After breakfast you are free to make the most of your day here in the stunning Shropshire countryside with your horse. For those who want a lesson visiting expert instructors are available upon request in all disciplines, to help you reach your full potential and with weekly clinics from Joss Edwards (Dressage) and Dean Price (Show Jumping and Cross Country) so whatever your level we have something for everyone. The onsite XC course has 50 fences including steps, trakehners and hedges.

For the more laid back 'happy hacker' why not arrange to have a picnic lunch made and head out on a full day ride. Either explore one of the many routes from the B&B or load your horse and take the short drive to Nesscliffe hill where you can explore Humphrey Kynaston's way. Humphrey is said to have been the local Robin Hood, after committing a murder he fled to Nesscliffe Hill where he hid out in Kynaston's cave until he was eventually pardoned by Henry V111. The cave is still there today for you to visit.  Three stunning sandstone hills rise above the Shropshire plains; Nesscliffe, Hopton and The Cliffe, and during May they are alive with Rhododendrons and The Cliffe covered in heather. Between riding round the hills you can drop down to The Old Three Pigeons Pub for some lunch. The Pub has been standing there on the old A5 London to Hollyhead road since 1404.

We would suggest eating out tonight. There are lots of very good pubs within a short drive/taxi ride away, and in Shrewsbury town you will find a wide range of bars, restaurants and pubs!

Day Three

The third day, sadly, is your last chance to ride. You could school your horse in one of the onsite arenas and then venture down to the river where, when the tide isn't too high, you can walk into the water for a splash! If you are interested in a longer stay please request this upon enquiring.

Please note that there are several bedrooms at the B&B and the prices vary. Therefore this package price may increase depending on what room is available at the time of enquiry / booking.
