Horse Riding in the New Forest

From a quiet corner of the New Forest we can offer you a choice of accommodation perfect for couples, friends and families with an award-winning pub and restaurant offering an exceptional dining experience within walking distance. The on site cottage welcomes friendly dogs, horses and their owners.  Dogs can share the cosy cabin with their human companions while equine guests are stabled immediately next door in a 10’ x 12’ Lodden wooden loose box, with shavings/rubber matting already in place. Their post-and-rail and electric-fenced grazing being just yards from the front door. Riding training is also available on site with the resident BHS registered, advanced event rider. As well as horse riding this area is also ideal for non riders, dog-walkers or bird-watchers.

Day One

Arrive today and settle into your accommodation. Most people choose to stay in the onsite 2 person cottage which will sleep 4 at a push on the sofa bed. If you have a larger party then there are several B&B’s very close by which we can personally recommend. You can choose stabling or grazing for your horse. We have 4 loose boxes, with shavings/rubber matting already in place, available. Plus, post and rail and electric-fenced paddocks for individual or group turnout as per your request. From here you have an abundance of hacking opportunities including access into the New Forest and onto Hurst Castle and Highcliffe beach. You may also choose to arrange a flat or jumping lesson with Anna, the on site instructor, in the 25m x 50m sand school.

Day Two

Today the choice is yours as to how you spend your second day. Maybe explore the local bridleway, the route enjoys views across the Avon Water valley, and takes you through though local farmland and woodland – the bluebell woodland being particularly beautiful in the spring.

Wildlife is in abundance and you can expect to see rabbits and deer as well as a multitude of birds.  You might also be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the buzzard, barn owl, heron, badger, fox and even otter that have been seen before.

This evening why not make you way to the nearby award-winning pub and restaurant which offers an exceptional dining experience within walking distance.

Day Three

Today is your final day and by now you should have a good idea of the area and the local rides. Maybe try the beach today, depending on the tides (ask your hosts) you could venture to Hurst Castle or Highcliffe beach and ride along the easily accessible stretch of shingle beach.  Alternatively you could enjoy some of the best hacking in the whole of the New Forest. Ordnance survey maps and directions for suggested routes from one hour to all day rides/pub rides are provided.

Please ensure your horse is in an established worming regime prior to arrival and that you bring your own hay, feed, feed bowl, haynet and water buckets.  It should be possible to purchase extra bedding and haylage on site.
