Bishop Bennet Way Cheshire

Cheshire is never more beautiful than when experienced on horseback. It is a true horsey county with miles of off road riding through the scenic farmland and forests. Horses are embedded within its culture. Set in the heart of the Cheshire countryside this break offers riders a unique experience to bring their own horse and explore the Bishop Bennet Way.

Day One:

Arrive and settle yourself and your horse into our beautiful 4 star Cheshire Farm House. Your horse will stay in a luxury Monarch stable and you will be staying in a 16th century oak-beamed farmhouse set in beautiful grounds. You may like to start taking in the outstanding scenery of the area immediately and if you wish to do this there is either a 6 ½ mile route or an 8 ½ mile route. The routes take you to the start of the Bishop Bennet Way and then around the medieval Beeston Castle on the longer route. You also have the opportunity to exercise your horse around the 140 acre farm.

Day Two:

This morning after a traditional home-cooked English breakfast, you may like to enjoy a ride around the Coddington Loop. There is a choice of two rides: a 13 mile or a 16 ½ mile ride. Both routes will take you through the village of Aldersey Green. This village has retained all its rural character and has a duck pond at its centre. The lanes you will be riding on for both these routes are very quiet and rural and there is lots of off road riding and opportunities to canter. A brochure outlining all the routes of the Bishop Bennet Way will be given to you before you set off this morning. The pretty village of Tattenhall is close by with many outstanding eateries including a wine bar & brasserie, Try Thai at The Bear and of course, a great choice of Pubs that serve home-cooked food.

Day Three:

This morning after enjoying an English breakfast, the choice is yours of what you would like to do. You can enjoy riding another route along the Bishop Bennet Way. Or you may prefer to turn your horse out into one of the beautifully maintained paddocks and take a walk up to Beeston Castle taking in the spectacular views of the area which stretch from the Pennines to the mountains of Wales. Alternatively, the historic city of Chester is only 15 miles away if you fancy a little sight-seeing or retail therapy.

If you like the idea of a horse riding holiday in Cheshire but are unable to bring your own horse, have a look at our sister site Equestrian Escapes.  We can also offer tuition, hacking and XC.
